God’s Role in Salvation

16 Mar

This study “God’s Role in Salvation” is taken from the “The MacArthur Bible commentary

God’s Will

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)

“having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will (Ephesians 1:5)

“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will (Ephesians 1:11)

God Draws

“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44)

God Grants

“And He said, ‘Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father’.” (John 6:65)

God Calls

“that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.” (1 Thessalonians 2:12)

“to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:14)

“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9)

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

God Appoints

“Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.” (Acts 13:48)

“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

God Predestines

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Rom 8:29)

“having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.” (Ephesians 1:5)

“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will”  (Ephesians 1:11)

God Prepares

“and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory” (Romans 9:23)

God Causes

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—”  (1 Cor. 1:30)

God Chooses

“knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God (1 Thessalonians. 1:4)

“But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:13)

“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love” (Ephesians 1:4)

God Purposes

“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11)

God Delivers and Transfers

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Col. 1:13)

God saves

“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Tim 1:9)

“not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5)

God Makes us Alive

“even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)” (Ephesians 2:5)

God Pours Out His Spirit

“whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior” (Titus 3:6)

God Brings us Forth

“Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”(James 1:18)

God Justifies

“Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” (Romans 8:30)

“that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:7)

God Sanctifies

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

God Glorifies

“For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh” (Romans 8:3)

Talk Wisdom

Talk Wisdom's goal is to defend the tenets and values of Biblical Christian faith. We defend our Constitutional Republic and Charters of Freedom, especially when speaking out against destructive social and political issues. As followers of our Savior and Lord, we should boldly stand up for Jesus Christ in our present circumstances. He is our Savior, Lord, and King, and His love needs to be shed abroad in our hearts and in our world - now.
